Well, before I get to Wisconsin - N.J. Rep. Governor Chris Christie (he is the one that Ann Coulter luuuuuuuvs! She really luuuuuuvs him and thinks that he should run for president) He is something else! He cracks jokes a lot and thinks he's funny! Not to me! He was going to go after the collective bargaining in the unions but decided against it after what is happening in WI, as did Kasich in Ohio and Daniels in Ind. BUT, Mr. Christie cut the police force in Camden, N.J. by 46%! Now, Camden is a high-crime area and now, that they are short almost 200 police officers, crime is running rampant! He also cut the fire department - I don't know how much but enuf! Now, Philadelphia has cut down on the fire department, also. What the stations are doing is what they call a "brown out" - one station will close for I don't know how long, in days or a week, or whatever. Well, they had a fire in an apt bldg and the closest station was on their "brown out" and they had to get the next closet station which, of course, was further away, and two children died. Now, nobody can prove that the children would have lived if the closest station was open but.......... Now, Mr. Christie could have given tax cuts to the top 1 or 2% in his state, but "they provide jobs!" (not even one, yet!) Actually, what they provide is $$$$$$ to the Republicans!
Now, back to Wisconsin! Wallker had the state house locked up which is really against the law as the state house belongs to the people, not him! But I believe it is now open. It was freezing there and snowing and the people had to stay outside. They are inside the rotunda now and fortunately there are bathroom facilities there but they - as of yesterday - are running out of food. This governor is something else! If the election were held today he would not win! There are a lot of Republicans that are union members and they are thinking differently now! He is unveiling his budget today and I don't know yet what it says or if anything happened. He has been saying that most of the people protesting are out of towners! He lies! Yes, I am sure some people are coming especially from Illinois and Minnesota but he forgets that the out of towners that were there before were the "tea baggers" who were all out of state. Now, the Wisconsin l4 (Dem Senators) are still "in an undisclosed location" in Chicago. One of them spoke on Rachel Maddow's show last nite, Jon Erpenbach, and behind him was the NBC sign and Chicago sign - he was in the studio and it was sort of funny as Rachel said he was in an undisclosed location. They are sitting tight and it may turn out that a couple of Republican Senators are going to vote against Walker so that if they came back they would get a higher total to vote down the bill. That would be great and it would be a big blow to Walker. Hopefully this will be the end of his big career plans - like running for President as he wants to! Also, there is some kind of lawsuit that will be pending, I can't explain it, but hopefully they will talk about it again. This was per a former Atty-Gen. of Wisconsin that spoke last nite.
Now, the GOP has a budget I haven't seen but according to an economist this budget will cost 700,000 jobs!!!!!! I do know that it includes cuts to education, health care, pregnant women and possible more tax cuts for the rich! Rand Paul said yesterday that the tax cuts for the rich should be permanent!
Now, Bank of America in 2009 made 4.4 billion AND PAID NO TAXES! And they rec'd 1.9 billion in tax benefits! Now don't ask me to explain this, as I can't. It's what I heard. Now, I saw 2 men on tv yesterday, partners in co. called USUNCUT.COM
who are working on something to try to get these companies pay taxes. Most of them send their $$$ offshore and there are all kinds of loopholes but the average American just keeps paying taxes and taxes! It doesn't seem fair, does it? But it is something that goes on and on and is inevitable like death and taxes, so the saying goes! If all these companies paid taxes and the top 1% didn't get tax cuts, they wouldn't have to cut $$$ from education, health, etc. etc. It all makes me sick! I was happier when I didn't watch news!
